Broughs Kew - within Dobbies Garden World

Late in 2007, Mark Coughlan was appointed as

Store Manager for an exciting new garden centre

development in Southport.

Mark invited Broughs Butchers to provide the butchery in the all new Food Hall within the new Dobbies Garden World Centre.

We were delighted to accept; the new venture

gave us an opportunity to offer 7 day a week trading in an area of the town in which we had no presence.

Customer response since we started has been encouraging

and the enterprise goes from strength to strength.

The new business needed a talented butcher to run it. Steve Adams was the chap! Steve has been a butcher for most of his working life, he has worked elswhere in the Southport area and brought considerable experience to the enterprise.
Steve is very creative, his innovative meat products are easy on the eye and taste as good as they look.
The counter is always presented with the most dynamic of displays that draw complimentary comments from his customers.

One of Steve's most popular products is the easy to cook and economical Pin Wheels.
The meats are minced (Beef or Lamb or Pork) and spices and herbs are added. The mix is then rested and chilled before it is carefully prepared for the rolling out. A good quality puff pastry is rolled and prepared, then the meat mix is laid on to the pastry and the whole product is rolled and trimmed.
It sounds easy but it really is not; the skill is getting just the correct amount of meat to pastry. It is a science! Give them a whirl next time you are at the counter, one each is usually enough.

Steve has a strong team of employees behind him whose commitment and great customer service have paved the way for the successful relationship between Broughs and Dobbies Garden Centre. The team includes Jimmy, Pauline, Jonathan and Bill whos togetherness and top quality customer service have contributed to the success of Broughs Kew.
